CMRL Plans Regional Rapid Transit System for Parandur Airport Connectivity

With plans for a second airport at Parandur underway, Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) is exploring a Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) to improve connectivity. Two corridors are under study: Chennai Airport to Parandur via Sriperumbudur and Chennai-Kancheepuram-Vellore via Parandur.

The semi-high-speed RRTS aims to provide fast, frequent, and efficient transport to distant suburbs and neighboring districts, ensuring timely travel for commuters and air passengers. A feasibility study for the project is set to begin soon.
