Cidco speeds up airport notified area project in Mumbai

CIDCO
The City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco) has accelerated the implementation of the Navi Mumbai Airport-Influenced Notified Area (Naina) project, which aimed at preventing the haphazard development in the surrounding areas of Navi Mumbai International Airport. Cidco has proposed the Naina project, that will be developed over 371 sq km of land surrounding the Navi Mumbai International Airport and cover 175 villages of Raigad. Of the 11 town-planning schemes proposed under the project, plans 1-3 are being implemented at various levels, while Cidco has appealed to the landowners under plans 4-11 to submit their consent letters at the earliest for prioritizing the development. According to the Vice Chairman and MD Sanjay Mukherjee, the agency has aimed at the fast and transparent development of the Naina town development plan. This project will prove to be a unique one in the town development segment with the participation and cooperation of landowners. The main feature of the town development plan under Naina is that it will be developed through a participatory basis instead of land acquisition. The landowners under this scheme will contribute equal land and will get 40% developed plot from their original land even if it is affected by any reservation, and the carpet area will also be the same as the original land. Thus, landowners will gain complete returns on their lands as Cidco planned to develop roads, playgrounds, schools, gardens, growth centres and other infrastructure facilities over the remaining 60% portion of the land parcel.
