Adding to the road network of Chhattisgarh, the state Chief Minister has recently cleared the widening of Raipur-Bilaspur and Raipur-Durg, and Raipur-Dhamtari roads besides reviewing the status of construction of Bhopalpatnam-Bijapur road among other projects. The state also cleared a new National Highway project between Raipur and Vishakhapatnam on a proposal moved by his counterparts in Andhra Pradesh. The Chief Minister informed that road projects of Rs.2,500 crore have already been endorsed for financial year 2017-18, which includes construction of four flyovers on Raipur-Durg route. On the other hand, notably, the National Highways Authority of India had already announced plans of broadening NH-26 to augment connectivity between Raipur and Vishakhapatnam last year. The total density of National Highways (NHs) in Chhattisgarh is at 23.4 kms per 1000 square km out of the total length of 3,168 km in the state. About 47,890 km length of state roads have already secured in principle approval from the Central agencies.
