Centre Releases Rs 37,000 Cr Under RDSS to Improve Power Distribution and Supply Reliability

Power-Infrastructure
The Government of India has launched the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) to enhance the quality and reliability of electricity supply by making the power distribution sector financially sustainable and operationally efficient.

So far, the Centre has released around Rs 37,000 crore under the scheme, accounting for nearly 38% of the total sanctioned Gross Budgetary Support.

Funds are released only when Distribution Companies (DISCOMs) achieve specific milestones and fulfil all requirements outlined in the fund-release guidelines. A result-evaluation framework, built on customised action plans for each State and DISCOM, is being used to assess performance and determine eligibility for continued funding.
