Centre Approves 200-km Coastal National Highway in Andhra Pradesh

The Central Government has granted in-principle approval for a 200-kilometre greenfield Coastal National Highway aimed at enhancing connectivity across Andhra Pradesh’s undivided North Coastal districts—Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, and Srikakulam.
This ambitious six-lane highway project will connect Mulapeta Port in Santabommali Mandal (Srikakulam district) with the upcoming Bhogapuram International Airport in Vizianagaram district and Bheemili in Visakhapatnam district. Designed to be environmentally sustainable, the highway will provide seamless and faster travel across the coastal belt.
The project aims to significantly boost infrastructure development, promote balanced regional growth, and improve accessibility from rural areas to urban centres and other coastal economic hubs. Once complete, the highway is expected to support logistics, tourism, and economic activity in the region.
