BRO Breaks Through Sungal Tunnel on Jammu-Poonch Highway

The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has reached a significant milestone with the breakthrough of the 2.79-km Sungal tunnel along the Jammu-Poonch national highway. BRO chief Lt Gen Raghu Srinivasan expressed optimism about completing this strategically important project within the next few years.

Sungal, which connects Akhnoor and Poonch, marks the completion of the second tunnel among the four on the strategic national highway 144-A, famously known as the golden arc road. Earlier, the Naushera tunnel, spanning 700 meters, achieved its breakthrough on January 28. Meanwhile, tunnelling activities inside the 260-meter Kandi and 1.1 km Bhimber Gali tunnels are currently underway.
