Bihar approves ₹1,400-cr two lanes road project

Bihar government has approved alignment of a two-lane state highway from Mansi in Khagaria to Hardi-Chaughara in the Supaul district to offer better road connectivity in the remote parts of the bordering area of Khagaria, Saharsa and Begusarai districts. The ₹1,400 crore highway will have four major bridges on Bagmati, Katyayani, Kosi and Kosi rivers. Principal secretary - road construction, Amrit Lal Meena informed that the department will soon begin the tendering process. The 75 km long highway would be known as SH-95 and would link NH-31 at Mansi (Khagaria) and SH-66 at Hardi-Chaughara on the Supaul-Madhepura road. Though SH-95 was notified earlier but it could not

take shape because of the missing eight km in the riverine area as it remains submerged under water and disconnecting link to other parts of the state during rainy seasons. The four rivers—namely Bagmati, Kamla, dead Kosi and Kosi cross the proposed highways at 10, 12, 14 and 15 km distance from Mansi river end, and due to the presence of these rivers on the stretch, the road project has remained in limbo till now.
