Biggies vie to bag ₹1,325-cr metro corridor

The much-delayed Metro project on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) between Central Silk Board and KR Puram gains momentum in Benguluru with nine Indian companies evinced interest in constructing the 19-km long project involving an investment of ₹1,325 crore. Divided into two parts for speedier construction, the first package received six bids while the second package received eight bids. BMRCL, which opened the bids, is happy with the large number of construction companies participating in the bidding process. In the first package, the 9.85-km Metro line has six elevated Metro stations such as Central Silk Board, HSR layout, Agara, Ibbalur, Bellandur and Kadubeesanahalli. BMRCL has also included construction of loops, ramps for a road flyover at Central Silk Board junction with an approximate length of 2.84-km costing ₹731.18 crore. With a length of 9.7-km, the second package comprises seven elevated metro stations such as Kodibeesanahalli, Marathahalli, ISRO, Doddanekundi, DRDO sports complex, Saraswathi Nagar and K R Puram, including a 1.09-km link line to Baiyappanahalli Depot entailing an investment of ₹594.25 crore.
