Bhubaneswar gets ₹970-cr classic infra upgrades

Indian Railways and the Odisha government in a joint move have decided to invest ₹970 crore to develop the Bhubaneswar railway station (and its surrounding areas) and make it a world-class multi-modal transport hub. The initial redevelopment work will be carried out with an investment of ₹130 crore with ₹70 crore by the Railways and ₹60 crore by the state government. Development of the area adjoining the Bhubaneswar station as a Railway Station Multi-Modal Hub (RSMH) under the Modi government's Smart City Mission entails an investment of Rs 840 crore and will be taken up by the state government through the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA). The project will be commissioned in three years and will include a new terminal building for the railways station, a city bus terminal, car parking and allied public utilities.
