BDA plans ₹13,000-cr elevated ring road on HAM model
The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has decided to launch the much-delayed peripheral ring road (PRR) project by turning it into an elevated corridor to save on land acquisition costs by 40%, and bring down implementation cost and time. However, the construction cost of the 65-km stretch will go up in view of the rise in the cost of construction inputs. The Peripheral Ring Road will connect Tumakuru Road with Hosur Road through Ballari Road and Old Madras Road and will also be linked to the NICE expressway. The project, at an investment of Rs. 13,000 crore, is likely to begin soon and BDA will invite private companies to take up the project and the nodal agency will share a portion of the cost. Under the hybrid annuity model, the bidder will invest 60% of the project cost while the state government will share the remaining 40% of construction cost, and road users will pay toll to the project developer.
