Assam & Northeast Witness Unprecedented Growth: Sonowal

Union Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, highlighted the transformative development in Assam and the Northeast. He described the Brahmaputra River as both a lifeline and a symbol of the region’s renewed energy and confidence, reflecting India’s rise as a global force.
“Under Modi ji’s leadership, we are harnessing the immense potential of the Northeast for nation-building and working towards a ‘Viksit Bharat.’ This progress is a result of effective governance since 2014,” said Shri Sonowal.
He celebrated India’s achievements in the maritime sector in 2024, calling it a landmark year. “From laying the foundation of India’s 13th and largest major port to opening new global trade routes, we have taken significant steps toward establishing India among the top 10 maritime nations in the world,” he stated.
Sonowal emphasized the maritime sector as a cornerstone of India’s economic future, connecting the nation to global opportunities. “We are unlocking new gateways to prosperity and forging a path to becoming one of the world’s most powerful nations,” he added.
