In its bid to provide low-cost houses to the economically weaker sections (EWS) in urban areas as quickly as possible, the Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana has said that Andhra Pradesh has recently launched the project and also becomes the first state in the country to have launched construction of 1.1 lakh prefab houses in one go. In this connection, the government will finalize tenders for the remaining 10,000 houses shortly. The construction of houses for the poor is being taken up in pre-fab mode which will help them complete the work quickly. The four walls and the slab will be simultaneously installed by the contractor and their expertise and innovative style of erecting housing units has already helped them win Hudco award.
