AP pushes 210 infra projects worth Rs.8,814 cr

The state government in Andhra Pradesh has launched four 'Smart City' projects in cities like Kakinada, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati and Amaravati and has identified 210 infrastructure projects entailing an investment of Rs.8,814.18 crore. Out of these, 71 projects worth Rs. 1,986.08 crore have been identified in Kakinada, 39 projects of Rs.1,610.95 crore in Tirupati, 47 worth Rs.1,777.29 crore in Visakhapatnam. Apart from this, the state of Telangana has also targeted 53 projects in greater Warangal and Karimnagar entailing a sum worth Rs.3,439.86 crore where these projects are currently at various stages of implementation. The four cities in Andhra Pradesh and the two cities in Telangana were selected for development as Smart Cities under the smart cities mission. The implementation of the smart cities mission is being done by a city-level special purpose vehicle (SPV) incorporated under the Companies Act, 2013 in which the state/UT and urban local body (ULB) will be the promoters having 50:50 equity shareholding, said ministry of housing and urban affairs in a recent statement.
