AP launches new port project in Prakasam

The state chief minister is all set to lay the foundation stone of a new port at Ramayyapatnam in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh, the CM said adding that the setting up of a major port at Dugarajapatnam in Nellore district was one of the provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act and that the State is going ahead with the project irrespective of the lackadaisical attitude of the Centre. Referring to the mega Polavaram dam being built on the Godavari, he said there is a delay in releasing ₹3,500 crore as the State government had already spent huge fund in the project, though it was a national project but the state is going ahead with it and 62 per cent of the work has already been completed. Water will be released by gravitational flow by May, 2019, and the state government will make every effort to complete the project by the end of 2019, he added.
