AM/NS India Appoints Arvind Bodhankar as Chief Sustainability Officer
Dr. Bodhankar will spearhead the sustainability agenda for AM/NS India, focusing on defining and implementing medium and long-term strategies for decarbonization, minimizing environmental impact, and advancing the organization's climate initiatives.
Previously serving as the Executive Director for ESG & Chief Risk Officer at Dalmia Bharat Group, Dr. Bodhankar led sustainability and risk management efforts, overseeing projects in renewable energy, circular economy, carbon capture, and green infrastructure.
With a wealth of experience spanning over three decades in various manufacturing sectors, including petrochemicals, fertilizers, steel, cement, and automotive industries, Dr. Bodhankar has held leadership positions in operations, quality management, health, safety, and environmental management. He has also played pivotal roles in driving sustainability initiatives in leading manufacturing companies.
Wim Van Gerven, Chief Operating Officer of ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), expressed confidence in Dr. Bodhankar's extensive expertise and leadership in sustainability and risk management. He emphasized Dr. Bodhankar's pivotal role in advancing the company's sustainability agenda as it aligns with growth strategies aimed at meeting the evolving needs of the nation.
AM/NS India has set ambitious targets, aiming to reduce emissions intensity by 20% by 2030. The company's roadmap includes initiatives across the entire steel production value chain, such as increasing the utilization of renewable energy to fulfill 100% of grid electricity needs, doubling the recycling of scrap steel through enhanced sourcing and processing facilities, and implementing technological advancements to drive operational efficiencies.
