Alstom-WAG-12B
Alstom, the French sustainable mobility major, has secured a €62 million contract from Indian Railways to provide maintenance services for WAG-12B electric locomotives at the Sabarmati locomotive depot. The agreement covers maintenance for the remaining 300 units yet to be delivered under the original 800-locomotive order awarded to Alstom in 2015 through its joint venture, Madhepura Electric Locomotive.

The contract includes both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to meet strict availability and reliability requirements until February 2031. The scope spans material supply, locomotive washing, logistics and remote diagnostics, ensuring efficient fleet performance. Alstom will also continue its skill development programme as part of the contract, supporting knowledge transfer and workforce capability within India’s railway ecosystem.
