Airport Metro gets Rs.310 cr extension to Dwarka

Airport Metro extension to Dwarka
In a bid to provide direct metro connectivity to the upcoming Exhibition cum Convention Centre (ECC) in Dwarka Sector 25, DMRC has started extending the high-speed Airport Express Line deeper into Dwarka with the construction work of an underground stretch at an investment of Rs.310 crore set to start shortly. The metro corridor, which currently running between New Delhi metro station and Dwarka Sector 21, is being extended up to the Convention Centre. The length of the proposed extension is 1.7km with standard gauge, DMRC, spokesperson said. An underground station is planned inside the ECC complex with a subway — built using the cut and cover method — linking it with the convention centre. The detailed project report for the proposed extension has been approved by the Centre. The project is likely to be completed in the next two and a half years. The high-speed Airport Express Line currently has four stations in between — Shivaji Stadium, Dhaula Kuan, Delhi Aerocity and IGI Airport (Terminal 3).
