Affordable housing in India, which has opened up a multi-trillion dollar opportunity and smart homes are altering the living experience and proving to be a game changer for the country’s real estate sector, chairman, National Real Estate Development Council, Rajeev Talwar, said adding that private equity funds and financial institutions view affordable housing strategies for the next phase of growth. Post demonetization, while the sector witnessed some sluggishness, the implementation of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act 2016 and the goods and service tax (GST) has brought a new wave of activity into the sector. He said and role of technology and innovation in the changing real estate environment will be showcased at the 14th National Convention to be held in New Delhi on August 28 and 29. India is surging ahead and real estate industry is also witnessing a paradigm shift towards consolidation and the country will soon see a stable, industrialized housing market, fully compliant making ‘Housing for All’ a reality, said vice-president (north), Naredco, Anil Suri.
