ADB Approves $400 Million Program to Boost Road Connectivity in Maharashtra

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $400 million results-based lending (RBL) program to strengthen road connectivity across Maharashtra. The initiative aims to improve infrastructure in 34 districts, with a strong focus on the climate-vulnerable and economically lagging regions of Marathwada and Vidarbha.

Under the program, nearly 350 km of state highways and 2,577 km of rural roads will be upgraded to provide better access for rural communities to markets, logistics hubs, healthcare, education, and essential public services.

The RBL program is expected to enhance mobility, support economic inclusion, and improve resilience in some of the state’s most underserved regions.
