The Asian Development Bank
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Central government have signed a $926 million loan agreement for financing two metro lines in the Mumbai Metro Rail system, informed Country Director of ADB's India Resident Mission, Kenichi Yokoyama. The single largest infrastructure project loan in ADB history was approved by the ADB Board recently and will help fund lines 2A (Dahisar to DN Nagar), 2B (DN Nagar – Bandra – Mandale), and 7 (Dahisar [East] to Andheri [East]), totaling to about 58 km. The project will fund 63 six-car trains, signaling and safety systems, and help in establishing a new dedicated metro operation organization to manage the entire metro network in Mumbai, which is being implemented by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).
