AAI
After Guwahati and Imphal, the Agartala airport is set to become the third international airport in the northeastern region by early next year . The AAI has fast tracked the ₹438 crore Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport, which will be completed this year itself, and will have world-class facilities, said Tripura Transport and Tourism Minister Pranajit Singha Roy. The airport was built in 1942 by King Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur and has now become the second busiest in the northeast after Guwahati's Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport. The Imphal airport was declared as an international couple of years ago and negotiations are currently underway to further upgrade the facility matching international standards.
