AAI floating tenders for airport in Jharkhand

AAI
Airport Authority of India is set to start construction of the Dhalbhumgarh airport in Jharkhand as the project will soon secure the NoC from the forest department, said official spokesperson, AAI, Vinod Kumar, and added that tenders would be floated for the mega aviation project, which is located about 60-km from Jamshedpur. Prior to this, the defence ministry had given the green signal for the construction of an airport on a 240-acre land (where the airport is coming up), which has a tarmac constructed by the British during World War II. The airstrip was extensively used by the armed forces during the 1962 and 1971 wars. AAI has already initiated the ground work and it is estimated that the first part of the project would be completed by 2020 enabling operations of smaller aircraft.
