Gurvinder Singh,MD and S.A.David,CEO - VMT Industries
Our trailers give high operational quality, longer tyre life, less fuel consumption, high resale value, besides providing customised modular trailers understanding customer quality requirements model and applications. We are confident that our high-quality products and our efficient customer support and service will make us the most preferred brand in the trailer industry.

The trailer industry is in a transitional stage with the rise of self-propelled trailers, automated driving technology, and connected vehicles.
Even as these new trends begin to take hold, the mechanical trailers and other well-established technologies still have a long road ahead of them, and these drivers will remain essential to the truck-trailer industry. Although VMT is producing for 60 to 65% of Hydraulic Axle Modular Trailers and only 5 to 6% of Mechanical trailers in India, it still faces the fact that around 43,000 of the mechanical trailers (~78% of units sold) are being manufactured by the unorganised sector.

However, we are confident that our high-quality products and a reliable customer service will keep influencing customers as we aim to become the most preferred brand in the trailer industry. Our trailers give high operational quality, longer tyre life, less fuel consumption, and a high resale value. We deal directly with fleet owners and provide customised modular trailers as per their application requirements. A customer-centric approach and bringing out quality products is the business culture at VMT. We also believe that it is vital to share the company’s future and long-term plans with our customers and vendors as they are integral to the company’s growth.

We are investing heavily in R&D and in new technologies.
The company now seeks to address the future of the trailer industry in India and abroad and has made investments in emerging technologies. A large proportion of our research and development will focus on further refining the hydraulic axle systems. The modular trailers technology is here to stay for many years to come. These will encompass the mechanical trailers, specialized trailers for the defence sector, axles, steering, braking, aerodynamics and safety features.

Global population growth and the expansion of e-commerce will fuel demand for hydraulic axles, along with the need for mechanical trailers. At the same time, new technologies will create opportunities for enhancing efficiency and productivity gains. Digitalization in the transportation industry also holds great potential.

The increase in axle load norms will certainly curb overloading of vehicles, improve road life, and reduce accidents.

In July last year, the Government of India announced an increase in axle load norms. Under this, the new load carrying capacity has increased to approximately 25% in permitted load capacity of trucks and trailers. While the amendment may affect demand by around 10%, it will curb unlimited overloading of vehicles, improve road life, and reduce accidents.

We have started expanding into international markets and have a long-term strategy to earn around ₹150 crore within the next three years.
Today, VMT has become one of the most preferred companies in the industry, with its focus on solutions that benefit fleet owners including customized solutions as per customer’s transportation needs. Currently, we have three plants which are located in Manesar, Bahadurgarh, and Jhajjar (Haryana). A new production unit (the forth one) with the help of an International Partner is going to be open very soon in the coastal state of Gujarat.

We plan to expand into the Asian markets and later in Africa, to meet our growth target for the next five years.
