BKT's advanced All-Steel Radial tires for rigid haul trucks
BKT a vertical of Balkrishna Industries Ltd, the Indian multinational company, and a global player in the Off-Highway tire market, unveiled some of its finest tires such as the advanced All-Steel Radial tires, namely the EARTHMAX SR468 and EARTHMAX SR53, along with the newly introduced rubber tracks Multiforce BK T91 for compact track loaders.
The star of the event was the giant EARTHMAX SR 468, the advanced All-Steel radial tire specially designed for rigid haul trucks. Its unique tread design with special tread compounds makes it perfect for hard, rocky, and tough mining conditions. Its tread lug blocks with circumferential grooves and intertwined blocks ensure effective heat dissipation. EARTHMAX SR 468 is developed using BKT's cutting-edge technology to carry heavy loads, deliver longer service life, and provide resistance to rock cuts and punctures. Additionally, the sturdy square shoulder assists in ejecting loose stones to protect the tire from damage.
Another tire from the EARTHMAX family on display was EARTHMAX SR 53, an All-Steel radial tire specially designed for ultra-large loaders, operating in severe conditions. The classified deep L-5 tread consists of a cut-resistant compound. In addition, the tire is designed to offer extraordinary abrasion-resistant properties while in loading operation.
The newly introduced industrial rubber track series Multiforce BK T91 for compact track loaders (CTL) employed in material handling applications has a tread made of a high-performance compound that ensures maximum resistance against cuts, tears, and abrasion, making it suitable for a variety of surfaces on and off the road such as clay, mud, asphalt, gravel, and sand. It also provides optimal flotation on hills or slopes. Multiforce BK T91 features a C-shaped tread pattern that provides superior handling and excellent traction on all terrains. Additionally, it has a dual forged metal core for strength and excellent durability. More so, the endless belting design of high-tensile steel cords ensures better dimensional stability and excellent performance in extreme conditions.
Rajiv Poddar, Joint Managing Director, Balkrishna Industries, said, “We have demonstrated ‘Bharat Ka Tire Building Bharat’ with our world-class, cutting-edge tires. Our advanced mobility solutions can further infuse the construction, industrial, mining, and earthmoving sectors of Bharat.”
Ashok Chhajer, Sr. General Manager, OE Sales, BKT, informed that the company has witnessed excellent growth in the last couple of years. Many projects have been completed, and many more are in the pipeline, including roads, bridges, wet and dry ports, airports, railways, and other activities, including irrigation.
“It is clear that completing such large-scale, massive work requires machines and equipment tailored to the specific needs of each project, including the need for various types of tires for smooth and long operations of the construction machines. For example, a soft soil, a road project, or a tunnelling project will require different kinds of machines and different tires. BKT is well equipped to cater to all types of projects and surfaces with its wide range of tires,” he said.
“We collaborate with equipment manufacturers from R&D to drawings to come up with the most suitable tire solutions. When infrastructure development companies/large contractors approach us directly or indirectly, we strive to provide them with solutions tailored to their equipment, work criteria, and operational needs, aligning with the requirements of their projects,” added Chhajer.
Giving an instance, he said that when an OEM complained of punctures in their equipment deployed at a recycling plant, BKT took on the challenge of developing a special tire for them, incorporating armide and steel belts. “We take a very proactive approach by providing customized solutions based on the specific requirements of our customers.”
He informed that since OTR tires and their application extends beyond industrial construction to include agriculture and other applications, BKT offers an extensive range that covers all equipment produced in India, whether for material handling, construction, mining, or agriculture industries. BKT tire options cater to a diverse customer base, including OEMs, large fleet owners, and infrastructure development companies.
“At BKT, we go beyond being just a tire manufacturer; instead, we engage with customers and collaborate with them to find the right solutions and even tailored solutions that meet the specific needs of our customers across industries.”
“Over the past three years, BKT has been actively involved in the development of tires for electric-driven machines. Today, we are proud to present a solution, particularly for agricultural tractors, where we can provide a special tire designed for electric applications. We are also in the process of developing specialized tires for electric-driven construction equipment. Soon, we will be ready to offer these special tires in collaboration with the OEMs,” informed Chhajer.
