Korean Piling Project
A newly delivered Atlas Copco XRVS 476 portable air compressor is being used by plant rental specialist Dae Jun Equipment to provide air power at 25 bar for a pile driver on a major housing project in Cheong - ju, South Korea.
The compressor, an XRVS 476, operates at a normal air pressure of 25 bar and features an actual free air delivery of 460 litres / second.

With the foundation works for the project just getting underway, En Sung Foundation Company is driving piles around the perimeter of the site to stabilise the soft clay soil before the main piling for the tower blocks begins.
En Sung is using a Pileman 1820 rig equipped with an auger to drill 15 cm diameter holes to a depth of 15 m. If rocks are discovered during the drilling, the Pileman is fitted with a hammer to break through them. Once the hole has been drilled, the rig lifts the 15 m long I - shaped steel pile into position and lowers it into the hole.
The Pileman 1820 is a Japanese - built piling rig equipped with a Hino engine and with a leader length of 24 m. The machine being used by En Sung is equipped with a 3 t drop hammer.
