YEIDA unveils 40-km elevated road linking Jewar airport with IGI

Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority
In a bid to provide uninterrupted transport facilities between the two airports, the Yamuna Authority has decided to build a 40-kilometre elevated road linking Jewar airport with Indira Gandhi International airport in Delhi. In this connection the nodal agency plans to conduct a feasibility study and it is in the process of floating tender to rope in a consultant for the study, CEO, Yamuna Authority, Arunveer Singh, said, reiterating that the authority is going all out on the best suited public transport system including Rapid Rail Transport System (RRTS), Pod Taxi, Metrino, Hyperloop, Tram and Bus Rapid Transit among various alternatives. The consultant will also suggest the funding pattern, revenue estimates, among others. YEIDA sources said the new connectivity will improve conveyance and transportation of goods from Noida and Delhi and other areas. The current annual passenger transit through Indira Gandhi International Airport is approximately 60 million while the current annual passenger capacity is around 62 million. The number of passengers is expected to reach 80-85 million by 2020 at IGI Airport. The Jewar Airport will also cater to the spillover as the increasing air traffic and spurt in the rate of passengers have constrained the operation of IGI Airport in terms of facilities and space, they said.
