The Union transport ministry has recently announced that a length of 217 km roads in Tripura have been included under the Bharatmala program, this was stated by Union transport minister, Nitin Gadkari, elaborating that his ministry has directed the officials concerned including those from NHIDCL that 148 km long length of Kamalpur-Ambassa-Gandacherra-Amarpur road and 44 km long Udaipur-Sonamura-Comilla road and also 25 km length of Agartala city bypass west road have also been included under Bharatmala 2.0’ project. He further added that the commencement of construction work on the existing Agartala-Teliamura section of NH-08 and National Highway up to Khowai-Teliamura-Amarpur-Sabroom into four lanes will start very shortly. Apart from this, he approved a scheme of ₹200 crore from the Central Road Infrastructure Fund for the construction of paved bridges and cement concrete roads in the state.
