PMRDA to start work on ₹17,412-cr RR road in Pune
The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) is all set to start work on the construction of the 170-km long eight-lane Pune ring road project involving a staggering investment of ₹17,412-crore. To start with, the nodal agency is launching work on the 32-km stretch of the ring road between Chakan and Nagar Road and the entire project will be built in a phased manner.

The ring road would connect six national highways that run through the Pune Metropolitan Area (PMR), including the Mumbai-Pune (NH-48), Pune-Nashik (NH-60), Pune-Ahmednagar (NH-753F), Pune-Solapur (NH-65), Pune-Saswad-Palkhi Marg (NH-965) and Pune-Bengaluru (NH-965) (NH-48). The ring road will separate city and highway traffic, significantly reducing vehicular pollution. PMRDA in an official statement said that tenders for the first 32km stretch from Chakan to Ahmednagar Road and Nagar Road to Solapur have been floated and the project will be completed on the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. In this connection, seven consultants had submitted proposals after which PMRDA began preparing the DPR for the project.
