NHAI has decided to upgrade the 75-km-long Ahmednagar bypass-Shirdi NH-160 starting from Savali Vihir to the Ahmednagar bypass. The project was announced in January 2021 at a cost of ₹450 crore but delays in execution has increased the cost to ₹750 crore. After clearance of the fresh proposal, bids have been invited from interested contractors to execute the project under the EPC model. The updated plan includes options for creating provisions for car parking after breakdowns, a seven foot-over bridge, one underpass, and setting up collision barriers.
