NHAI starts work on ₹1,500-cr Surat-Chennai Corridor

National Highways Authority of India has started the groundwork on the 178-km long Surat-Chennai Economic Corridor. Project Director, NHAI, Ajay Malik, informed that the ₹1,500 crore national highway project is under the Union Government’s flagship Bharat Mala. A stretch between Badadal village in Kalaburagi district and Singanodi village in Raichur district will be built in three phases, while the next patch of 71 km in Kalaburagi district will be built at a cost of ₹1,500 crore.

Uttar Pradesh-based PNC Infratech Limited has bagged the contract. Local agencies are working out to clear the issues of land encroachment on service roads of the National Highway.
