NHAI launches ₹844-cr highway widening in Karnataka

NHAI
NHAI has launched construction work on the 44.04 km long existing four-lane Nelamangala-Tumkur national highway into a 10-lane expressway involving an investment of ₹844 crore. The project is set to be completed in three years under the Bharatmala Pariyojana and will give a big boost to the Sompura industrial area, improving connectivity to the Kempegowda International Airport as well. Currently, the Sompura industrial area houses more than 500 industries.

Apart from road work, there is also a proposal to construct a retaining wall on either side of the structure to prevent accidents. The project will include 17 flyovers and railway-over-bridges. It will also be a green highway as 600 saplings will be planted along the highway. The project, along with the Bengaluru Satellite Ring Road plan, will be a boost to Nelamangala, Doddaballapur, and Devanahalli satellite towns of Bengaluru.
