NHAI-MSRDC takes up work on the ₹50,000-cr e-way project

The MSRDC and NHAI have initiated the construction work on the new Bengaluru-Pune expressway involving ₹50,000 crore investment. The expressway will cover 12 districts and will pass through Kanjale from Pune Ring Road to Muthagadahalli on the Satellite Ring Road in Bengaluru. The six-lane highway has been designed to increase the vehicle speed to 120 km per hour and once completed, it will ensure travel time between two cities to about 6 hours. Preliminary survey on the project has been completed and the final blueprint will be handed over to NHAI soon.

The expressway will start from Pune, covering Satara, Sangli, Belagavi, Bagalkot, Gadag, Koppal, Vijayanagara, Davanagere, Chitradurga and Tumkur to Bengaluru. In Karnataka, it will start from Bommanal on the Maharashtra border in Athani Taluk and will pass through Athani (Belagavi district) Jamakhandi, Bagalkot, Mudhol, Badami (Bagalkot district) Nargund, Ron (Gadag district), among others. The project will be commissioned by Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation Limited (MSRDC) in collaboration with National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). The current distance between Pune and Bangalore is 842.1 kms, which takes approximately 14 to 15 hours to cover.
