NHAI Identifies 53 Highway Projects for BoT Model Worth ₹2.1 Trillion

NHAI
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has earmarked 53 highway projects valued at ₹2.1 trillion to be developed through the Built Operate Transfer (BoT) model. This strategic move aims to shift the resource generation strategy and revive private participation in the road construction sector. The identified projects, covering approximately 5214 km with high traffic density, will be implemented through the BoT model, where private entities will build and operate the highways. Maharashtra leads with 14 BoT projects spanning 522 km at a cost of ₹39,477 crore, followed by Uttar Pradesh with six highways covering 1344 km costing ₹50,333 crore. The government's 'Vision 2047' Plan envisions the development of numerous high-speed corridors, and robust public-private partnerships are expected to play a crucial role in achieving these objectives. The modified Model Concession Agreement for BOT (Toll) aims to address concerns and streamline the process for stakeholders, making BoT projects more attractive to contractors.
