The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH)
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has set an ambitious target to rectify 9,000 accident-prone black spots on national highways by March 2025, according to Secretary Anurag Jain. With over 9,000 black spots identified, the ministry aims to enhance road safety by addressing areas where accidents frequently occur. Approximately 4,000 black spots have been rectified in the past three years. Jain also highlighted plans for a road safety audit of all national highways and the introduction of a zero-complaint system for road maintenance. The ministry aims to hold authorities accountable for road maintenance issues, ensuring safer and well-maintained highways nationwide. Additionally, MoRTH plans to implement cashless medical treatment for all injured accident victims across the country soon.
