Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) expressed satisfaction with the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project and conveyed interest in supporting the construction of resilient border roads in the Himalayan region. With a focus on preventing incidents like the recent tunnel accident in Uttarkashi, JICA is keen on contributing to infrastructure development in the area. Additionally, JICA is exploring opportunities in power transmission projects and is currently engaged in negotiations with Nepal and Bhutan to facilitate efficient power sharing in the region. While expressing enthusiasm, the Chief Representative highlighted concerns about the slow decision-making process in trilateral and multilateral frameworks for power projects. JICA remains committed to collaborative initiatives, anticipating positive impacts on regional connectivity and development.
