Kerala cracks ₹250-cr highway widening project

Kerala government has decided to widen Karur-Coimbatore state highway entailing an investment of ₹250 crore. The project involves widening of the existing road to four-lane from Palladam to Chinthamanipudur in Coimbatore. It will be completed in 18-month and is likely to be commissioned in the middle of next year.

Apart from this, the Dindigul division of the highways department has also submitted a proposal to the Central government under the annual plan to widen the road from Karur to Vellakoil. The National Highways Authority of India is also planning to build the Karur - Coimbatore bypass project, which is expected to address the immediate requirement of a wider road.
