Centre sanctions ₹698-cr for Belur-Hassan highway widening

The Union Transport Minister, Nitin Gadkari, announced that the Centre has approved a budget of Rs 698.08 crore for the widening of the Belur to Hassan section of National Highway-373 in Karnataka. This project, which falls under the NH(O) Annual Plan 2022-23 (Package-II), aims to widen the existing road and add paved shoulders for better safety and convenience of commuters.

The project will be executed on the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) model, which means that the contractor will be responsible for the entire project cycle from design to construction. This approach is expected to accelerate the project timeline and ensure timely completion.

The Belur to Hassan section of NH-373 is a crucial stretch that connects several important cities and towns in Karnataka, and the widening of this road is expected to significantly improve transportation and trade in the region.
