BMC announces Rs. 2,900-cr roads & tunnels in Mumbai
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has planned to build multiple roads and tunnels at key locations along the Western and Eastern Express Highways (EEH) in Mumbai. The project involves an estimated cost of Rs 2,900 crore and aims to segregate traffic into two levels. Out of this total budget, the civic body has allocated Rs 2,000 crore for construction works at EEH junction, while Rs 900 crore has been reserved for works at the junctions along WEH. As part of this project, the civic body will build underground tunnels, subways and horizontal roads akin to an underpass. These infrastructure developments will facilitate the movement of vehicles by enabling them to traverse roads, make U-turns, and navigate crossings beneath the ground level.
