Bengal plans 200-km long ring road in Kolkata-Howrah region

Ring Road in the Kolkata-Howrah region
The West Bengal government has announced plans to construct a 200-km radius Ring Road in the Kolkata-Howrah region. The project is estimated to cost around ₹4,000 crore, with a significant portion of the budget allocated for the construction of the Budge Budge bridge. The Ring Road will address three railway intersections, crossroads, and congested areas, with an elevated carriageway expected in these areas. The route from Barajaguli (NH-34) to Bishnupur (NH-117) via Kampa, Mogra, Dankuni, Uluberia, and Budge Budge will be the Northern and Western portions of the Ring Road. The existing urban roads will be improved to facilitate radial movement of traffic for easy dispersal from the core areas of the city.
