In an attempt to provide top-class road network in the district, the Maharashtra government has authorize civic agencies to widen and rebuild 309-km road length at an investment of Rs.845 crore. The state PWD, which is preparing a detailed project report for the work, has set a deadline of two years for completing the targeted task. The project will involve six roads that connect rural areas of the district and once these major district roads and state highways are upgraded, rural connectivity will improve to newer high, superintendent engineer, PWD Nashik, Ranjeet Hande said, adding that the road length being planned with a vision of next 15 years and the government will be paying the contractors on an annual basis. The contractors will bear the expenses on maintenance and repair during the period as the six roads have been chosen on the basis of connecting important villages, towns, economical hubs, industrial towns and highways for better and faster movement of traffic.
