PM Narendra Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for multiple development projects worth about Rs 11,000 crore in Kerala aimed at strengthening infrastructure, clean energy and industrial growth in the state.

A key initiative is the polypropylene unit at Kochi Refinery, which is expected to produce around four lakh tonnes annually and support sectors such as packaging, textiles and medical devices. The Prime Minister said the project will strengthen India’s petroleum manufacturing ecosystem and contribute to the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

To expand renewable energy capacity, the foundation stone was also laid for a 50 MW floating solar project at West Kallada. The project aims to utilise Kerala’s extensive water bodies for solar power generation and promote sustainable energy development.

The Prime Minister also highlighted improvements in rail connectivity under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, including the modernisation of Shoranur Junction, Kuttipuram and Changanassery stations and the introduction of the Palakkad–Pollachi train service to enhance connectivity between Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

On the road infrastructure front, projects such as the Kozhikode Bypass and improved connectivity to Azhikkal Port are expected to reduce travel time, ease congestion and boost tourism and trade. The Prime Minister said these initiatives will support farmers, strengthen industries and create employment opportunities, contributing to the vision of a “Viksit Keralam.”
