PM Inaugurates Rail Stations, Signalling System & Express Train as Part of Rs 18,000 Cr Infrastructure Push in West Bengal

Rail-Inaugration
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and dedicated several infrastructure projects related to railways and connectivity in West Bengal during an event in Kolkata, as part of development works worth more than Rs 18,000 crore aimed at strengthening transport and logistics in eastern India.

Among the key projects inaugurated were six redeveloped railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The stations — Kamakhyaguri railway station, Anara railway station, Tamluk railway station, Haldia railway station, Barabhum railway station and Siuri railway station — have been upgraded to improve passenger amenities and reflect the cultural heritage of the region while enhancing station infrastructure.

The Prime Minister also dedicated the Automatic Block Signalling System on the Kalaikunda–Kanimahuli railway section to the nation. The new signalling system is expected to improve safety and increase the capacity of this busy railway corridor by enabling smoother and faster train operations.

In addition, Modi flagged off a new express train service connecting Purulia with Anand Vihar Terminal. The service is expected to enhance rail connectivity between West Bengal and northern states including Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, while improving travel convenience for passengers.

These projects form part of the broader infrastructure push aimed at strengthening railway connectivity, improving passenger facilities, and enhancing transport efficiency across West Bengal and eastern India.
