The Public Investment Board (PIB) has approved two key Namo Bharat (RRTS) corridors connecting Delhi to Gurgaon, Rewari, Sonipat, Panipat, and Karnal, a major step forward in enhancing regional connectivity across the National Capital Region (NCR). The projects, with a combined investment of Rs 65,000 crore, will now be sent to the Union Cabinet for final approval.

The PIB’s clearance is a crucial development as the proposals had been delayed due to funding disagreements between the Centre and the previous Delhi government. Once operational, these corridors are expected to significantly reduce travel time, decongest highways, and promote sustainable mobility in the NCR.

According to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, the 93-km Sarai Kale Khan–Bawal RRTS corridor is estimated to cost Rs 32,000 crore, while the 136-km Sarai Kale Khan–Karnal corridor will require Rs 33,000 crore. Together, they mark a transformative phase in India’s regional rapid transit infrastructure aimed at improving intercity travel efficiency and supporting balanced urban growth around Delhi.
