Finance Minister K N Balagopal allocated funds for ongoing projects in Kochi, with a notable absence of funding for the ₹2,150 crore international residential-commercial complex at Marine Drive. Major allocations include ₹239 crore for the second phase of Kochi Metro rail, fueling preparatory works from Palarivattom to Infopark at Kakkanad. Additionally, ₹13 crore was allotted for infrastructure development at the Petrochemical Park in Ambalamugal, and ₹14.5 crore for the Cochin Cancer Research Centre (CCRC). The industry sector saw allocations of ₹200 crore for the Kochi-Bengaluru industrial corridor and ₹17 crore for industrial parks in Kochi, Perumbavoor, and Palakkad. However, the budget made no mention of the Gift City project at Ayyampuzha near Angamaly.
