MMRC Finalizes DPR for Metro 3 Extension to Navy Nagar, Colaba

The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has completed the detailed project report (DPR) for extending the Metro 3 underground corridor to Navy Nagar, Colaba. The proposed extension aims to add four stabling lines to the corridor, reducing the need for additional lines at eco-sensitive Aarey. The extension, covering 2.5 km underground, includes a proposed Navy Nagar station and a train reversal facility. The demand for this extension comes from the Navy, with around 1 lakh residents and a floating population in the area, seeking improved transportation options. If approved, the extension will alleviate congestion in south Mumbai and enhance connectivity for residents and commuters.
