Indian Railways Approves Rs 200 Crore OFC Project for South Eastern Railway

Indian Railways has approved a Rs. 200 crore project to strengthen its digital communication network by laying Balance 48-Fibre Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) across 1,696.2 route kilometres of South Eastern Railway.

The project will enhance the communication backbone supporting safe, efficient and technology-driven railway operations across four major divisions of the zone.

The OFC network will cover 545.4 route kilometres in Adra Division, 392.3 route kilometres in Chakradharpur Division, 339.9 route kilometres in Kharagpur Division and 418.6 route kilometres in Ranchi Division.

The upgraded fibre-optic infrastructure will improve the reliability and capacity of railway communication systems, supporting signalling, train operations, safety systems and future digital initiatives across the South Eastern Railway network.
