JSW Steel to Invest $1 Billion to Cut Carbon Emissions

operations to reduce carbon emissions
JSW Steel plans to invest $1 billion across its operations to reduce carbon emissions, aiming to become net neutral by 2050. In the first phase, by 2030, the company targets reducing emissions to 1.95 tonnes of CO2 per tonne of steel produced.

By 2050, JSW Steel aspires to be net neutral, focusing on green hydrogen and carbon capture, utilisation, and storage. The steel industry uses nearly a fifth of the industrial energy in India, so JSW Steel will enhance processes and energy efficiency, transition to renewable energy sources, and use high-quality raw materials and alternative fuels.
