Japan to Build World's First 3D-Printed Train Station

West Japan Railway (JR West) is set to construct the world’s first 3D-printed train station in Wakayama Prefecture, about 60 miles south of Osaka. The new Hatsushima Station, replacing an old wooden structure, will take just six hours to assemble.
Spanning 108 square feet, the station will feature a modern, minimalist design with a curved roof and a motif of mandarin oranges, paying homage to the region’s citrus groves. Hatsushima serves as a gateway to Jinoshima Island, a popular spot for swimming, camping, and paddleboarding, while nearby Arida City is known for its fishing ports and scenic landscapes.
