Italian-Thai Development Company Limited (ITD), a global engineering and construction major, has bagged the contract to build the 15.5-km stretch between Byappanahalli and Whitefield in the east-west metro corridor at an investment of Rs.1,300 crore. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is aiming to complete the work on this section of Phase II in about 27 months but the actual take-off is expected to happen in about three months. In fact, this is a part of Namma Metro Phase II (72 km) and the civil work on this stretch has been divided into two packages, ITD Cementation India has emerged as the lowest bidder for both packages, said an industry insider.
