To build world-class infrastructure along the entire border belt of the country, the government is planning to set up a Border Infrastructure Management Authority (BIMA) for planned and comprehensive development of infrastructure including roads, rail, water, power and communication network. It aims to enhance the ongoing development of specific areas by increasing public-private investment (PPP) and by allocating funds for completing works. The road head connectivity to the Line of Actual Control (LAC) remains inadequate as compared to China. This is more so in the case of Arunachal Pradesh. The plan is being prepared for integrated infrastructure development considering that the people living along the LAC should be considered strategic assets. The government has launched a flagship 'Vibrant Border Village' program to upgrade the facilities in villages along Indo-China, Indo-Pakistan, Indo-Nepal and Indo-Bangladesh borders.
